Coyote Running is excited to announce our upcoming running program: Chasing Boston!
The Coyote Running Chasing Boston training program will focus on the roads, but have trail elements to help all distance runners get the most from their training. We shall be training 2 out of 3 weekends (on average), and 1 out of 3 long runs will be on mountain trails. Long runs will range from 60 minutes to 3.25 hours on either Saturday or Sunday mornings, and we'll hit a wide variety of terrain. Quality runs w/stairs, hills, and speed will happen on Tuesday nights (6:30-8:00pm).
This program will run from Saturday, November 5th to Sunday, March 19th (LA Marathon weekend, Sunday, March 19th) approximately 19 weeks. The focal points of this program will be periodized training for a fast marathon -HOWEVER- we will also seek to assist those of you interested in longer (50k to 100 mile) trail events. You do not need to be training for the LA Marathon nor the Boston Marathon to be considered for this program, but it will be a program that focuses on helping athletes cut time off of their most recent (or lifetime best) marathon times. If you have zero marathon experience, even if you're training for your first, you will still be welcome in this program. If you are seeking to improve at shorter distances, we promise to take good care of you too. This program's primary aim is to help you enjoy running more, stay healthy, and improve at every distance and terrain.
PROGRAM REGISTRATION / APPLICATION PERIOD
Applications will be accepted starting Monday afternoon, September 26th through Tuesday, November 1st. We will notify our Chasing Boston training program members by email that they are invited to register. While we hope to include all applicants, some seasons we are at max capacity (approximately 75 athletes) and need to make other training program recommendations to a few. Please know we do not intend to turn anyone away, but we know what our maximum capacity with 2-3 coaches is to maintain the quality of programming we are committed to. NOTE: we haven't turned any athlete away in the past few seasons.
We're excited to shatter glass ceilings with you in 2017 and beyond!

Weekend Long Runs are focused on helping each Coyote become a more balanced runner, leaving no stone unturned. Long practices alternate Sat / Sun mornings and are on a mix of trail and road. On the roads, we'll work on foot speed, impact conditioning and specific pacing and while on the trails we'll work on mental and physical toughness, power and stabilizing muscle strength. To encourage necessary rest/recovery, we will schedule every 3rd weekend off throughout the program (i.e. no weekend practice).
Tuesday Night Runs are specialty workouts that alternate between hill repeats, tempo paced runs, pace assessment workouts and more.
Thursday Morning Runs also known as Coyote Thursdays are community runs open to all. These runs are always on the trails in the Santa Monica Mountains, rotating between 7 locations and are usually between 3 to 9 miles. Join us on Facebook where event details are posted each week (Coyote Running - the SoCal Coyotes).
Clinics are lead by coaches and other industry professionals to help you break through old challenges, teach you to properly hydrate, fully replace electrolytes, get adequate calories, and pace yourself so that you won't fade like a K-Mart beach towel at the end of the race. Other clinic focuses include core work, proper running form and breathing techniques.
If you are ready for something different, something new, then you are ready to rock it out with Coyote Running to your best race yet.
